Enhancement of biomethane potential of brown sludge by pre-treatment using vortex based hydrodynamic cavitation

Novel, non-thermal and economically benign pre-treatment process was developed for enhancing valorisation potential of brown sludge generated by dairy industry wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Vortex-based hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) device used to quantify influence pretreatment measuring biomethane (BMP) untreated treated sludge. Pre-treatment parameters, primarily, pressure drop number passes through the were varied on BMP. BMP tests performed at 39 °C containing 5% total solids in each reactors using an automatic measurement system 15 with volume 500 mL fitted overhead stirrer. HC increased soluble chemical oxygen demand (sCOD) more than 25% which able push 80% theoretical Volatile (VS) removal 65%. Highest methane yield 376 mL/g-VS The methodology results presented here show significant valorise via vortex based cavitation.
